Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some common questions we're asked, you may find something helpful here but if you still have a question please feel free to email or call us were glad to help.
Q. At what part of our remodel/construction project should we get you involved?
A. It is never too early. Designing and building one of a kind custom woodwork takes time.
Q. Who will design my project? Will you build a cabinet I designed?
A. We design almost all of what we build but will also build your designs or incorporate your ideas; we also work with designers and contractors.
Q. How much will it cost?
A. This is the most common question and one of the hardest for most custom woodworkers. If you have complete construction drawings we can give you the price, it rarely happens this way. You can also provide us with a budget and we will design your project within it (if we tell you its possible). Usually we meet with you to discuss the scope of your project, your needs and ideas and look at any drawings (if available) and then get back to you with a realistic budget. We do not bid jobs low to get you to sign a contract and then increase the price at every available opportunity. We use the idea of looking at the complete building project to determine the quality of cabinetry the home deserves and bid the project with that in mind.
Q. How do we know the price you quoted is fair?
A. There are many factors that go into what a job will cost, that is why it is hard to compare one bid to another (without construction drawings). We strive to be competitive with other woodworkers that build similar quality, but the ability to design and layout a project is much harder for you to compare. We recommend you look at past projects and talk to past clients to learn as much as possible before you choose a contractor. It will eventually come down to a matter of trust. We are not looking to retire on your project; we would rather have a referral or two and your continued business. Custom woodwork is expensive but I don't think anyone is getting rich at it. We truly enjoy what we do and are proud of what we are able to produce and would like to continue at it for another 20 years or more. Our clients say we have an awesome talent for laying out and designing great looking cabinetry.
Q. We need our project completed in two months, can you have it ready?
A. Completion dates vary according to our current work load. We usually have two to six months of work on the calendar. If it is possible to add your job, we will. However, we are careful to commit only to a realistic completion date.
